The iconic West Side Story, the musical with music by Leonard Bernstein and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim which was inspired by William Shakespeare’s play Romeo and Juliet, is coming to the Pump House in a new adaptation. Set in the Upper West Side neighbourhood in New York City in the mid-1950s, it explores the rivalry between the Jets and the Sharks, two teenage street gangs of different ethnic backgrounds, but with the love story of Maria and Tony at its heart. This epic musical is one not to be missed.
